Hygieia. Save us from Covid19!

For my final project towards my art degree, I am creating a statue of Hygieia, who happens to be the goddess of health and cleanliness. The word 'hygiene' is derived from her name. Who better to turn to in this time of lockdown while the pandemic spreads the world over. The project is ongoing, but I have some great progress photos I'd like to share.

Hygieia is always seen with a snake and a cup. The snake has a lot of symbology; they are seen as masters over life and death for they can both take life and shed their skins; a symbol of rebirth. Their posions can also be used to derive cures and medicines. The cup is also a symbol for medicine. For my statue I am featuring a bowl instead of a cup, this bowl will contain water and sit on top of a plinth, which Hygieia will be blessing with one hand.
